Makonese, Mkhonza on trial

11/24/2011 9:30 AM - Black Leopards continue to provide an opportunity for trials to a few players to see if they can fit in to the set-up and therefore strengthen the side.

Recent arrivals in Limpopo for trials are the highly-experienced duo of former Orlando Pirates defender Zvenyika Makonese and former AmaZulu defender Simphiwe Mkhonza. They both started their try-outs yesterday (November 24 2011).

Mkhonza_wits_500.jpgSpeaking to the club's official website, Media Officer Tendani Thidiela said the idea behind having a look at the two was to bring more muscle to the defence.

"We looking to bolster our defence, we need experienced yet hungry players to help mould our current young defenders and help us to a good finnish this season."

Thidiela confirmed that the two players will stay until a decision is reached about them by the coach.

"The length of their trial will be determined by the coach, usually a player trains with the team for up to a week before any decision is made regarding the need of their services."

Remember to log on to the Leopards site to find out the final result of the two players' trials.
