MUNGOMENI: LEOPARDS PAVED THE WAY FOR ME

Former Black Leopards player Luvhengo Mungomeni says he is grateful for having had the opportunity to hone his skills with Lidoda Duvha. The youngster, who hails from Limpopo, recently departed from his home side to join glamorous Mamelodi Sundowns in Gauteng.

He spoke to Black Leopards official website in his first media interview since joining 'The Brazilians'.

How has your stay at Sundowns been so far?

I have been welcomed with open arms by my new teammates, the technical staff, management and the supporters. Its a great privilege to have joined the league champions.

How has your experience at Leopards been of assistance in your new career move?

Leopards are what I can say are my home team, so I felt very proud to don the shirt. It meant a lot to the people in my community that I'm playing in the top flight. Leopards gave me a chance to play in the PSL at a time that my former team went bust. I had other offers but they were my first option.

Have you adapted to Sundowns' style of play yet?

I don't think the styles are very different really, it is still the South African football that I have always been accustomed to. Except that the competition for places is much higher at Sundowns. There is a minimum of two top class players for every position, that is, without taking away from my former teammates.

Meanwhile, Leopards chairman David Thidiela said that the club is very proud of Mungomeni.

"We will never stand in the way of a talented player who wants to move on to greener pastures," Thidiela said. "I'm sure he will adapt well at Sundowns."
