Leopards were reduced to ten men when Alpheus Kekana was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.
It was 'Lidoda Duvha' who drew first blood through Fischer Kondowe in the 39th minute, when his right-footed shot beat Ajax goalkeeper, Hans Vonk.
Russell Mwafulirwa almost equalised for the 'Urban Warriors' four minutes later, but his shot went narrowly wide of the goal.
The score remained 1-0 in favour of Leopards at half-time.
'Lidoda Duvha' continued to ask questions of the Ajax defence in the second half and they were almost rewarded with a goal just one minute into the half, but Thabiso Hlalele's shot went wide with Vonk well-beaten.
Leopards were to rue this missed chance in the 52nd minute when Nathan Paulse equalised for the 'Urban Warriors' with a powerful shot that beat Mashudu Mamphitha hands down. Paulse soon made it 2-1 for Ajax in the 67th minute when he headed in Bryce Moon's cross.
Jabu Maluleke almost levelled matters for Leopards in the 80th minute when he found himself in acres of space, but he put his shot over the crossbar.
The self-same Maluleke had a chance to redeem himself in the dying minutes of the match when he again found himself unmarked inside the six-yard box, but he again shot wide of the goal.
With that went Leopards’ chance of salvaging a point from this encounter and Ajax went on to register a crucial away win that extended their lead at the top of the log.
